Business Plan Competition & C4C Sports Weekend Recap!
University of California Community Spawns New Ideas, Wins Prizes
On April 29th, alumni, students, and faculty from the UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory will present their best business ideas and compete for nearly $28,000 in prize money at the 12th annual UC Berkeley Business Plan Competition hosted by the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. The six finalist teams fall into three tracks: information technology & web, life sciences, and products & services.
The grand prize winner and track winners are chosen by judges from the venture capital industry. All members of the audience will have a chance to vote on the People’s Choice Award and newly Elevator Pitch Award during the event. Event is open to the public. More details and registration (required) is located here: http://entrepreneurship.berkeley.edu/bef/apr10forum.html
Haas snags 4th place at the annual Challenge 4 Charity Sports Weekend!
The C4C weekend (4/16 & 4/17) brought together nine West Coast MBA programs in Palo Alto for a weekend of sports, friendly competition and an opportunity to raise money for Boys & Girls Club and Special Olympics, among other local charities.
Over 125 Haas students and partners participated in the various weekend events. Some Oski highlights included our one-woman spelling bee champion, Sarah Kwon ('11); a black eye from the competitive dance-off event (don't mess with our dancing abilities!); and a Battle of the Bands and Cheerleading performance that we won't soon forget!
Haas Standings:
1st place
- Golf
- Ultimate Frisbee
- Spelling Bee
- Trivia
2nd place
- Co-ed softball
- Dodgeball
- Squash
3rd place
- Co-ed Soccer
- Co-ed Football
We look forward to having some of you bring your skills to the field or on the stage for C4C Sports Weekend 2011!!
